Williams: I'll end Audley Harrison's career tonight at Prizefighter - 02/10/2009

EXCLUSIVE BY MICHAEL EMONS

DANNY WILLIAMS has promised to end Audley Harrison’s boxing career in tonight’s Prizefighter Heavyweights III event.

British Champion Williams, 36, and former Olympic gold medalist Harrison, 37, are both in Barry Hearn’s latest eight-man, one-night tournament at London’s ExCel.

The pair have met twice before with one victory each and could meet in a mouth-watering Prizefighter final.

“If Audley doesn’t win Prizefighter then it will be the end of his career – he has to retire,” said Williams.

“I want to finish his career and rightly so as he has been a professional for eight years and hasn’t achieved anything or won any titles.

“Audley Harrison is known for his talking and if world titles were given out for talking then he would have won three or four of them.

“Prior to him turning professional we were cool but once he turned professional he started running his mouth off.

“He said he would win the British title in his first fight and started making derogatory statements about me.

“We’ve had punch-ups at weigh-ins and things have got bad so we’ve now become enemies.

“When I hear him talking about me it doesn’t upset me but when I’m tired I think about him and it does push me that little bit harder.”

Williams, who has defeated Mike Tyson and fought against Vitali Klitschko, says he can’t wait for the action to begin at a packed ExCel.

“I’m so excited about this and it’s just been crazy,” added Williams, who has admitted his career could be on the line if he is not successful.

“Apart from against Klitschko or Tyson, I haven’t experienced this buzz ahead of a fight – everyone is so excited.

“I’ve been a professional for 14 years and this Prizefighter night really gets me going. I just can’t wait to get in there.”

The quarter-final draw is 1. Scott Gammer v Coleman Barrett, 2. Danny Williams v Carl Baker, 3. Audley Harrison v Scott Belshaw, 4. Neil Perkins v Danny Hughes.
